The Lost Nocturne is a narrative film shot entirely at night. It takes place across varying landscapes of the North American South West. This includes Nevada's salt flats, Arizona’s sky islands, Utah’s red desert, and the forests of New Mexico. The film’s visuals are absent of people, yet the narrative unfolds through a series of voice overs that link with the different landscapes. The prelude of the film is told from the point of view of a mythological character who strives to become one with the night. This character urges the viewer to join them in merging with the night as the film unfolds. The narrative is told through six different voiceovers, each with their own prescriptive nocturnal landscape. These voices narrate the mythological character’s stages of transformation as it loses its physical body and merges with the spirit of the night.
